I have been asked to produce two final designs, one for boys wear and one for girls wear plus three variations of each final designs. Here is my final design for girls wear and the three variations. My main inspiration came from the colour ways of 'Faded Glory', i really liked the concept of the mood board and how it was quite simplistic. From the mood board, i choose to do three designs with the same concept...

I then used these designs to create my final design...

Mood-board For Girls Wear

This is a mood board of all my chosen influences and inspirations for girls wear. I wanted my mood board to show children playing and doing what children are supposed to be doing. For my girls designs, i wanted them to be playful and fun but with a cute girly feel.  

Right or wrong??

I couldn't help feeling unsettled when i saw the following images. Thylane Lena-Rose Blondeau is the girl in the images below. These images are just a few from a vogue issue that was based on a reinterpretation of girls playing dress-up with make-up and heels, only without the playfulness. She is just 10 years old, and i can understand why these images caused so much controversy. Do these photos suggest the presence of an adult viewer or regard her as having an adults sexuality?

Whilst researching i have found out quite a lot about children's wear, and issues surrounding children and the media. I came across this website and thought it had a similar philosophy to SizeSmall. I really like the children wear on this particular website.

SizeSmall's Spring/Summer 2011

From looking at SizeSmall's previous summer collections it has given me a good idea of what Dorthe Cornelius likes and what her collections look like as a whole. Colour is one of the things that stand out for me. I like the way that the children she uses are ungroomed without makeup and appear to have typical bruises on their legs, which represents her brand philosophy very well.

My Perspective

From researching the Brand Philosophy, i have gathered important information about the ideology of the brand itself. The clothing represents children having fun and doing what children are supposed to do, without worrying about getting their clothes dirty... I believe children are sometimes inclined to grow up too fast and i feel it is important to promote a brand that allows them to have fun with what they wear but still be encouraged to not grow up beyond their years, which i believe some media and social networking can influence... I will take these things into consideration when designing my garments and try to represent this brand as best as i can within the time limit i have been given.    

A SizeSmall copenhagen philosophy

SizeSmall copenhagen children's clothing had a true size small perspective on the world. It's all about fun, play, movement and self-expression. It's hip and often colorful.
SizeSmall copenhagen is timeless Danish design with an edged of wildness. The clothes are always made of the best quality materials. Fabrics are souced from all over the world, from Japan to France and the major part of cotton used in the collections are always organic.

Style and graphics

The styles of SizeSmall copenhagen is urban cool. The clothes have humour and attitude. Funny, sketchy graphics also work to give SizeSmall copenhagen its playful edge. The graphics are created especially for SizeSmall copenhagen by the copenhagen street artist and illustrator, Stony.

The hippest kids wear

With two annnual collections SizeSmall is always up and ahead. From the very first collection and up until now SizeSmall copenhagen has always been singled out as one of the coolest Danish kids wear labels.

New Project...

The competition:
Designing for SizeSmall Copenhagen spring summer 2013, you must do market research and brand research. You must get into the spirit of the brand and what is in fashion for childrens wear right now. The designs must be innovative, yet commercial and most importantly have the SizeSmall copenhagen feel to it.
You will be looking into colours and making your own colour story for the outfit you design. You must make moodboards.
Your work must include:
1 outfit for girls (each design must have 2-3 variations of it)
1 outfit for boys (each design must have 2-3 variations of it)
A colour story. Fabric research e.g. what fabrics you want to use. This can change but the designer must have a clear idea of what materal is to be used for each design. Is it cotton, jersey, interlock .....
Final design sheets to be submitted jpeg 300dpi size A4 on the 10th of February 2012 before 17:00 emailed to Brigitte. Sketch/inspiration book of work in progress put into your blog which I can see to support your designs. Final hand in by 5th of March 2012 before 16.30.
The winner:
Will be announced at 9 of March.
Must complete spec sheets for their designs.
Will have selling samples made up of their designs and they will be presented together with the rest of the collection.
Will be creditted for your designs.

SizeSmall copenhagen retain the rights to change if necessary.
